Chocolate Walnut Sheet Cake ali Orehovo Cokoladno pecivo

Today I had this huge uncontrollable chocolate craving and I just had to do something about it. Instead of going to a grocery store to buy a block of chocolate that I don’t really like {me no like american chocolate 😛 } I wanted to bake something caky. And in the fridge I had some walnuts waiting for me to use them soon. So I started googling walnut recipes and I found a few. I read them all and then decided to adapt and mix a few recipes and just throw together what I’ve had. I experimented and didn’t really worry about the outcome. Somehow I knew that this was going to be what I wanted. Something chocolaty, moist, made fast and simple and not too caloric, well I don’t know if I got that right, but who cares about calories when you NEED CHOCOLATE so much. So I made a Chocolate Walnut Sheet Cake.

I thought that this whole thing will take more time to make but surprisingly I was done in about 20-25 minutes, including baking time. And guess what!!! When you take it out of the oven you can eat it warm. Me love it!

For this simple sweet thing you will need:
(I used regular-eating spoons, not the measuring ones and 9×13 pan)

Cake:

3 eggs

1 tsp vanilla extract

9 tbsp sugar

9 tbsp oil

9 tbsp milk

2 high- full tbsp dark cocoa

9 regular tbsp flour

1 regular tea cup-mug of ground walnuts

2 tsp baking powder

a little bit pilled lemon skin

3 flat tbsp of Cream of Wheat/ or just grind oatmeal, or almonds or breakfast cereal (Cream of wheat is this thing: http://www.creamofwheat.com/_images/products/healthy-grain/leftImage.png)

Chocolate glaze:

1 regular tea cup-mug of small semi-sweet chocolate chips

4 tbsp milk

1-2 tbsp butter

Sour cream under chocolate – optional

With hand mixer beat eggs and sugar until well mixed. Now add vanilla extract and oil and mix well on high speed. Now change to medium speed and add the rest of the stuff – milk, flour, cocoa… mix well and pour in a 9×13 inch pan, which you greased with butter and sprinkled with flour, or just use the baking paper. Put in preheated oven on 350F and bake for 15 minutes. Yes 15 minutes. I thought it will need more time, but that was just enough. Check with a toothpick – stick it in the cake and if it comes out clean it’s baked.

When the cake is baking, melt the chocolate on a double boiler. Add some little butter or oil and when the chocolate is melted also add some milk until it’s runny enough to easy spreading on the cake.

When the cake is baked, remove it from the oven and put it on a cooling rack. Leave it in a baking pan and pour over some milk, so it will be really moist. I would say to use that much milk that the whole cake gets poured with milk ones, use tablespoons, so you don’t pour too much milk on it and just kind of spread it around with the spoon.

Now pour over the chocolate glaze and spread it around with a spatula or a spoon. No need to be extra careful, it’s a cake that is going to be eaten in the next few hours.

If you want you can also spread some sour cream onto the cake and on top of it comes the chocolate. Sour cream gives the cake some great flavor note. As you can see on the photos I only used sour cream on half of the cake, because I wasn’t sure how it will taste exactly, but I can say now, that I prefer the half with the sour cream.

And just one more information. Everything with this cake is happening while the cake is warm. Well it is okay if you let everything cool, but there is no need to wait for that. When the cake is warm, soak it with milk, spread sour cream on top if you wish and pour over and spread around warm just melted chocolate. And that’s it. 25 minutes of work and such a delicious cake.

Ko ti pade sladkor in ko si zelis jesti nekaj cokoladnega, pa se ti ne da v trgovino po cokolado. Se posebej ne tukaj v ZDA, kjer mi cokolade sploh niso dobre, si vcasih zazelim da bi imela v doma ze kaksno narejeno cokoladno pecivo. Res je, da veliko pecem, ampak ne toliko za sebe, da bi me kaj sladkega vedno cakalo v hladilniku, sicer je pa tako tudi boljse, vsaj linijo obdrzim. Drugace bi bilo ze nevarno.

No tak dan je bil danes. Pa sem se odlocila koncno porabiti tiste orehe, ki so me cakali se od Velike noci. Poguglala sem cel kup orehovih receptov in se na koncu odlocila zdruziti par prebranih receptov ter malo se po svoje eksperimentirati. Jah vcasih imam take dneve ko stvari kar mecem skupaj in na koncu se vse super izpade, seveda se prav nic ne sekiram za koncni izdelek, in nekako kar verjamem da bo dobro. Imam pa tudi dneve, ko se strikntno drzim receptov in sem natancna kot sto mater, pa vse propade. Nimas kaj, bolje bit flegma, pa vse rata.

Za tole hitro pripravljeno pecivo, vse skupaj s pecenjem vred ti vzame okoli 25 minut, na koncu ga lahko pa se toplega jes in kaj se hoces boljsega, potrebujes:

Biskvit:

3 jajca

1 vanilijev sladkor

9 zlic sladkorja

9 zlic olja

9 zlic mleka

2 veliki zvrhani zlici kakava

9 zlic moke (ne glih ravnih pa ne prevec zvrhanih)

1 cajna salica mletih orehov

1 pecilni prasek

malo naribane limonine lupinice (1 scepec)

3 zlice gresa oz. psenicnega zdroba

Cokoladen preliv:

1 cajna salica cokcoladnih kapljic oz narezljane temne cokolade

malo mleka

1-2 zlici masla ali olja

kisla smetana – premaz pod cokolado (po zelji)

Z mikserjem na visoki hitrosti dobro stepi jajca in sladkor ter vanilijev sladkor. Ko je vse dobro zmiksano, dodaj olje in se enkrat dobro zmiksaj na visoki hitrosti. Zdaj pa dodaj se ostale sestavine in miksaj na srednji hitrosti, dokler ni vse dobro zmesano. Zmes zlij na pomascen in z moko posipan pravokoten 20×30 pekac, (lahko pa ga tudi oblozis samo s peki papirjem) ter daj peci v ze ogreto pecico na 180C. Peci nekje 15 minut. Preveri z zobotrebcom, ce je peceno. Zapici ga v pecivo in ce je cist ko ga potegnes ven, je peceno. Moje je bilo fertik v 15-ih minutah.

V casu pecenja v mikrovalovki ali pa na dvojnem loncu stopi cokolado. Za dvojni lonec potrebujes 2 lonca, ki ju postavis enega na drugega. V spodnji lonec nalij malo vode nekje do 3cm, toliko da se ne dotika dna zgornje posode. Vodo zavri in naj rahlo vre na najnizji temperature. Na to posodo postavi drugo posodo ali kovinsko skledo v katero streses cokolado. Mesaj ko se topi, dodaj maslo ali olje, na koncu pa se malo mleka, da bo tekoca ravno toliko da se bo dalo razmazati po pecivu.

Ko je peceno, pecivo vzemi iz pecice in ga se toplega navlazi oz. kar rahlo prelij z mlekom za boljso socnost. Zdaj lahko po vrhu premazes se kislo smetano. Jaz sem premazala le polovico peciva, ker nisem bila sigurna ce mi bo okus vsec, pa zdaj lahko recem, da mi je ta polovica veliko boljsa od tiste samo cokoladne. Super se zmesajo okusi. Zdaj pa povrhu prelij cokolado in jo z lopatko rahlo premazi po pecivu. Postrezes lahko se toplo.
